Installation precautions for ultrasonic (sludge interface meter) sludge level meters
Date:2025-04-19 Views: 37

When installing the ultrasonic (sludge interface meter) sludge level gauge, the following key points should be noted:
1. Sensor installation location selection ‌
Vertical alignment ‌
The probe should be kept perpendicular to the mud surface and the bottom of the pool to ensure that the ultrasonic signal is transmitted and received vertically.
There must be no obstacles (such as supports or pipes) directly beneath the transmitting surface to prevent signal obstruction or reflection interference.
Keep away from interference sources ‌
It is necessary to avoid the water inlet, water outlet, stirring area and the positions where the liquid surface fluctuates sharply to reduce the influence of bubbles or suspended solids on the measurement.
If the pool wall is uneven or has protrusions, the probe should be at least 50 cm (for smooth walls) to 100 cm (for uneven walls) away from the pool wall.
Immersion requires ‌
The probe should be fully immersed in water, with a recommended immersion depth of 3 to 10 cm to ensure stable signal transmission. In some cases, a dedicated arm-type bracket must be used.

2. Environment and Structure fit ‌
Use ‌ for the extension pipe
If the distance between the highest liquid level and the probe is less than the blind zone of the instrument, an extension pipe needs to be installed.
The pipe diameter is ≥120 mm, the length is 0.35-0.60 m, it is installed vertically and the inner wall is smooth.
Or it can be extended to the bottom of the pool, with holes left at the bottom of the pipe to keep the inner and outer liquid levels at the same height.
Anti-corrosion and protection ‌
In corrosive environments, probes made of anti-corrosion materials should be selected, and measures to prevent moisture and direct sunlight (such as sunshades) should be taken.
When installed outdoors, the cable interfaces should be sealed to prevent rainwater from seeping in.
The installation bracket should be adjusted according to the on-site environment. For instance, when the scraper of the sedimentation tank rotates and hits the probe, a protective cover must be used.
Iii. Debugging and calibration ‌
Parameter setting ‌
After installation, the liquid level height needs to be calibrated, and the actual value should be input to calibrate the instrument display.
Adjust the reaction speed, measurement environment, high and low threshold limits, etc. according to the working conditions and set them up normally at the factory.
Signal Verification ‌
The us700 sludge level gauge/sludge interface meter adopts enhanced signal transmission and reception probes with a maximum range of up to 15 meters. Even if the probe surface is covered with a certain amount of bubbles or dirt, the us700 can still measure normally. It has an excellent echo recognition function. Through the waveform diagram, the instrument will present the current signal situation, allowing for the judgment of the measurement status of the sludge level gauge probe.
Iv. Maintenance and safety ‌
Check regularly ‌
Clean the deposits on the surface of the probe to avoid measurement errors.
Check the condition of the cables and power cords to prevent aging or short circuits.
Explosion-proof requirements ‌
When installing in hazardous areas, explosion-proof standards must be met and the instrument must be grounded.
Through the above standardized operations, the measurement accuracy and long-term stability of the ultrasonic sludge level meter can be ensured. The specific installation details need to be adjusted in accordance with the on-site working conditions.
